## Destination photos (location-verified)

Every photo below shows the place it is used for. Each was checked on its source page: the caption, the location tag or the geotag has to name the place, and the picture has to match it (Patong Tower in the Patong shots, Koh Man off Promthep Cape, the Kata Noi / Kata / Karon chain). Photos whose caption contradicted the picture were rejected; see the end of this section.

No destination photo is reused for a different destination anywhere on the site.

Sizes per photo: `<name>.jpg` 1800w, `<name>-800.jpg`, `<name>.webp` 1600w, `<name>-800.webp`. Built from the source at 2400w. Metadata stripped.

| `destinations/patong-bay.*` | Home hero (slide 1), Phuket hub hero, About, Contact, First-time guide | https://unsplash.com/photos/3asHzjUTzdA | Max Bvp (@maxbvp) | Unsplash License | Caption "Patong beach city Phuket Thailand sea view"; tags patong, patong beach. Patong Tower and the bay's south headland are in frame. |

| `destinations/patong-night.*` | Home hero (slide 3) | https://unsplash.com/photos/iHvrj9D1TpM | Mike Swigunski (@mike_swigunski) | Unsplash License | Caption "Overlooking the beautiful Patong Beach, in Phuket."; location tag "Phuket, Thailand"; tag patong. |
| `destinations/kata.*` | Home "Three coasts" Kata panel, Kata page hero, Phuket hub Kata card, Katathani profile | https://www.pexels.com/photo/people-on-the-beach-7494161/ | Leon Huang (@leon-huang-37073985) | Pexels License | Description "Relaxing day at Kata Beach, Phuket with people enjoying the ocean and beautiful scenery"; location tag "Phuket, จ.ภูเก็ต, Thailand". Koh Pu, the island in Kata Bay, is in frame off the beach. Cropped from 4256×2832 to a 2800×2100 (4:3) frame anchored at the bottom, so sea, beach and Koh Pu fill more of it than sky. Replaced the Unsplash `tZXJMA_V4JM` aerial on 29 Oct 2026 (round 3): that one was heavily colour-graded. |
| `destinations/kamala.*` | Home "Three coasts" Kamala panel, Kamala page hero, Phuket hub Kamala card, InterContinental Phuket profile hero | https://www.pexels.com/photo/people-on-beach-4089905/ | Vladyslav Dushenkovsky (@dushenkovsky) | Pexels License | Description "Aerial view of Kamala Beach in Phuket, Thailand"; location tag "Tambon Kamala, Phuket Province, Thailand". |
| `destinations/kamala-sunset.*` | Keemala profile (Kamala) | https://www.pexels.com/photo/dramatic-sunset-sky-with-dark-clouds-over-a-sea-12263337/ | Виктор Соломоник (@solomonikvik) | Pexels License | Description "A breathtaking sunset at Kamala Beach in Phuket"; location tag "ตำบล กมลา, จ.ภูเก็ต" (Tambon Kamala, Phuket). |
| `destinations/promthep.*` | Best time to visit hero, Phuket hub "best time" card | https://www.pexels.com/photo/scenic-view-of-promthep-cape-in-phuket-thailand-34939155/ | Sarah Vivian (@anhthu) | Pexels License | Title "Scenic View of Promthep Cape in Phuket, Thailand"; Koh Man islet off the cape in frame. Location tag only says "Thailand", so the caption and the landmark carry it. |
| `destinations/yanui.*` | Best time to visit (dry-season figure) | https://www.pexels.com/photo/people-on-yanui-beach-7527716/ | rakkhita chanukrum (@rakkhita-chanukrum-45763168) | Pexels License | Title "People on Yanui Beach"; location tag "Phuket, จ.ภูเก็ต, Thailand". Cropped from portrait to 4:3. |

### Rejected while searching

- Unsplash `48tow67H4Fs`, `x18NMur9O50`, `Bqlh027ARn0` (Max Bvp, captioned "Kamala"): the picture is Nai Harn and Koh Man from the Promthep/Windmill viewpoint, not Kamala. Caption contradicts the scene.
- Unsplash `NueFr-8knFw`, `vSssovq78NY` (tagged Kamala), `o_YUPJBSvpo`, `YUO0uC8LHeI`: Laem Sing beach. Inside Kamala subdistrict but not Kamala Beach, so ambiguous.
- Unsplash `6XzzIdwOD6E`: tagged Kata Noi, but a top-down beach with nothing that identifies it.
- Unsplash `vswsW7ePkNE`, `lvvm_spqOXI` (Max Bvp, round 3): tagged kata beach alongside patong and karon, location only "Thailand sea view". Not specific enough.
- Pexels `34184047` (round 3): description names Kata Noi, but portrait 3:4 and the location tag only says Phuket.

### Retired destination files

- `destinations/phuket-hero.*`: looked like Maya Bay / Phi Phi, not Phuket. Deleted; replaced by `patong-bay`.
- Old `destinations/patong.*` (looked like Railay / Phi Phi), old `kata.*` (copy of `mood/beach-pavilion`) and old `kamala.*` (snowy mountains): overwritten in place by the verified photos above.
- `destinations/season.*`: an unverified "tropical shoreline". Moved to `mood/shoreline.*` and kept only as illustrative mood on Rosewood Phuket cards and profile. No longer used as a destination photo.

## Baan Yin Dee

Everything under `img/byd/` is the resort's own photography, byte-identical to `/home/websites/journeyful/site/img/byd/`. The `-800` variants for detail, lobby-teak, pool-palms, pool-tiers and room are resizes of those files. Used only on Baan Yin Dee surfaces.

## Peer hotel mood photos (not destination photos)

These are licensed stock used as illustrative mood on peer hotel cards and profiles. They are **not** property photographs and **not** location-verified. Their alt text and captions name no place; most say "illustrative, not property photo". Replace with press-kit photos when available.

Deleted 29 Oct 2026, round 3: `hotels/intercontinental-phuket.*`, `hotels/keemala.*`, `hotels/rosewood.*`, `mood/rainforest.*`, `mood/tropical-bay.*`. No page, script or stylesheet referenced them, and each showed the wrong place (snowy mountains, Maldives overwater villas, a Bali temple).
